General
What is JCI Helsinki?
Junior Chamber International Helsinki (JCI Helsinki) is an organisation
of young leaders and entrepreneurs under the age of 40 who are
interested in personal development, leadership issues and networking.
The JCI Helsinki also aims at influencing the society in a positive way
by cooperating with the local and international community.
The JCI Helsinki's strategy: "Crossing borders"
The strategy of JCI Helsinki has four dimensions:
- Members represent all sectors of society;
- We focus on international activities including cooperation with our twinning chapter in Tallinn;
- Our chapter is to cross its own borders by introducing something new every year;
- Our chapter provides its members possibilities to excel themselves.
Activities of JCI Helsinki
Our activities consist of high level company visits, leadership
training, interesting projects, and informal get-together events
shortly described below:
- Company visits
In spring 2004, the JCI
Helsinki has been received by e.g. CEO of Kone Corporation, Antti
Herlin, CEO of Stockmann, Hannu Penttilä and Mayor of city of Helsinki
Mrs Eeva-Riitta Siitonen.
- Leadership training
The
Junior Chamber International organisation is based on the principle
"learning by doing" and the organisation provides a number of
opportunities for members to develop their leadership skills including
board positions at local, regional, national and international level.
In addition, seminars and workshops on leadership issues are regularly
organised on different levels.
- Projects
Projects form an important part of the organisation. The most visible
project of the JCI Helsinki is the annual Policeman of the Year Award,
which is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior.
- Get-together events
Throuhgout the year, JCI Helsinki organises informal events such as lunches, bowling evenings and theatre visits.
